About Zozulia

sweet millet dish with poppy seeds from Ukraine

Zozulya – is a traditional Ukrainian millet dish. In 2024, the traditions of preparing and eating Zozulya porridge in the Vinnytsia region were added to the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage . Authentic Zozulya porridge is prepared in only one place in Ukraine: the village of Dashkivtsi in the Yakushinetsky community of the Vinnytsia region. The porridge gets its name from its appearance: it is made from millet and poppy seeds, and is speckled like a cuckoo bird.
